At just 21 years old, Philly-born and Woodbury-raised artist YNLNAIS is someone I’ve been following in the local scene—he’s consistently been on his game. His latest singles capture the essence of summer: freedom, fun, and the celebration of long hours finally paying off.
His music journey started way back in eighth grade. “I was always rapping and writing, but I started taking it serious my 8th grade year,” he shares. “Music was something that always interested me, and at the time it felt like everyone had their thing except me, so I found it when I started recording.” That hunger to find his lane has fueled a sound that fuses rap, R&B, and pop into a vibe uniquely his.
Music runs deep in his roots. With a mom who constantly had Mary J. Blige and SWV in rotation, he was exposed early to the soulful textures of old school R&B—but it didn’t stop there. “She’s also the reason I got into Meek, Jay-Z, Rick Ross,” he explains. That blend of emotional depth and lyrical sharpness shows in his music today.
Though he’s versatile across genres, R&B holds a special place for him. “R&B might be my favorite,” he admits, “I enjoy the process of creating that genre, arranging melodies, and all that.”

Now, with his new releases, he’s switching up the vibe, not to reinvent himself, but to celebrate. “These new singles I’m dropping all summer are basically a victory lap,” he says. “I put so much work into my debut project, so now I’m just having fun and getting out music people been telling me to drop.”
There’s no strict formula to his artistry, but if you ask him who’s in his creative DNA, expect a mix of smooth vocals and style pioneers: Justin Bieber, PnB Rock, Leon Thomas, Jordan Ward, and Young Thug.
