SLAYR: Heaventunes 💜💨
At just 18 years old, Slayr is doing more than making music, he’s starting a movement. The Philly-based artist pulls influence from all corners of culture: Jamaican roots, video games (especially Sonic), and an emotional connection to the artists that shaped his generation.
He first started making music in the summer of 2018, right around the time of XXXTentacion’s tragic passing. “It left a message on me about what I wanted to do in life,” he shares. That moment lit a spark, and years later, it’s evolved into a sound that refuses to be boxed in.
From unreleased rock and country tracks to orchestral and rage-metal bangers, Slayr’s approach is clear: create whatever feels true. “I make anything that comes to mind,” he says. “I love working with orchestral sounds or going full rage, it depends on the emotion.” Inspired by legends like Lil Uzi Vert, X, Juice WRLD, SoFaygo, and Playboi Carti, Slayr also draws from producers in the Working on Dying collective like Maaly Raw, F1lthy, and Oogie Mane. These names define a new wave of sonic chaos and beauty.
His first song, Horizon, was born from a mix of gaming nostalgia and Juice WRLD-style introspection, made entirely on a beat he produced himself. Since then, he’s only leveled up.
Now, with his latest 16-track album HeavenTunes, Slayr is pushing back against what he calls the “fast-food” culture of music consumption. “Songs today are made for virality, not from the soul,” he explains. “They sound good, but they’re not always cared for. I want to bring music back to being cherished.”
HeavenTunes is just that, a full experience. Featuring artists Remi Zerxes, ninexteen, and ezcodylee, with production credits shared between Slayr, gsauce, whereisreef, diego, egobreak, and more, the album blends beautifully from track to track. Each song transitions with purpose, highlighting Slayr’s ability to merge styles while keeping the emotion front and center.
That same energy in his music is exactly what he brings to the stage. I first saw Slayr perform at Rowan Hip Hop Culture Club’s 90’s Night, and it was one of the most amazing sets I’ve ever seen—he completely blew me and the crowd away.
🚨 Now’s your chance to see him live. He’s performing THIS FRIDAY for the artist Ninexteen’s release party in NYC and again on July 12th with @milk.philly. Trust me, you want to be in the room when he performs!
With versatility, heart, and a clear vision, Slayr is building more than a discography, he’s building a legacy. And this is just the start!!
