Meet Devyn Amana, a 22-year-old artist from South Jersey, whose sound and music are as versatile as they are authentic.
With music becoming his outlet back in high school, his first few songs were created out of a need to vent and express what he was going through. Always someone with a creative touch, he dabbled in creating comic books and YouTube videos, which eventually led him to discover music. That became the medium that let him create and tell his stories that no other art form could even come close to. What started as a fun outlet ended up quickly becoming a big passion of his, pushing him to explore as many different styles as he could grasp.
Growing up, Amana was raised in a household that was filled with different types of R&B and reggae, with rap coming into the picture much later in his high school career. While he didn’t have an entirely formal background in music, he was always surrounded by it.
Regarding style, Amana has built a style and sound that is distinctly his own. You can hear it on Amana Vol. 1, a project that draws from bits and pieces of influence yet lands in a lane that is uniquely his. Amana’s inspirations are spread across the board and span pretty widely. Ranging from lo-fi vibes from artists like Smino, groove-heavy sounds from the world of Kaytranada, New York and Atlanta rap, and the experimental creativity of Tyler, The Creator. More than anything, though, it is the underground scene, especially voices like Jelani Imani, that pushed him to shape his identity and evolve his sound.brighter.
His next chapter is, in fact, coming fast. As Amana Vol. 2 is wrapped and set to drop soon. With promises to push the style of the first volume even further. Alongside the drop of his new album, Amana is cooking up a collab with Mars2Cold and Rell The Remedy, witRellls also taking the reins as the executive producer of his upcoming album. While a lot of the details are still under wraps, one thing’s for sure…this project is going to be concept-heavy, ambitious, and unafraid to experiment. Or, as Amana puts it himself, “Don’t chase a shadow.”
And while he might be busy, you can always catch Amana outside the studio, as he’s bringing it live. ON August 27th, he’ll be on stage at The Rose NYC for Cyberpunk 2025 alongside 4D. Expect massive energy, creativity, and proof that his vision is always bigger than just the music.
With drive, authenticity, and a sound that just refuses to remain boxed in, Devyn Amana is making his mark one step at a time. And trust…this is just the beginning.
