NINEXTEEN: #purple world đź’śđź’¨
I’ve been following ninexteen for years, and one thing that’s clear is his versatility, no matter the style or sound, he always brings raw honesty and stage presence that can’t be ignored.
His story started at just 14, when he booked his very first studio session freshman year of high school. Before that, he was already writing poems and songs as a kid, expressing himself on paper whenever he wasn’t glued to music or TV. By 15, he was producing on FL Studio, building the foundation for the artist we know today.
Though he quit piano lessons early on, those skills helped shape his ear. His first taste of recording came during a school field trip with classmates, when they put their own spin on Flava in Ya Ear. Shortly after, he laid down Mental on a Playboi Carti beat—an early experiment that hinted at the honesty and introspection to come, even if he never dropped it.
Musically, ninexteen draws from everywhere. Boom bap is his heart and soul—the gritty late 80s and 90s sound that first inspired him. R&B from the same era shaped his softer side, while trap became his second love after discovering Lil Uzi Vert at 12. (Before that, it was Chance the Rapper, Hoodie Allen, and G-Eazy on repeat.) Add in pop punk“but only if it POPS” and you’ve got the genre-bending palette that makes his music so unique.
When it comes to influences, he looks to black superstars who paved the way, Kanye West, Travis Scott, Tyler, the Creator, Jean Dawson, Frank Ocean, Pharrell, and more. Like them, ninexteen aims to push boundaries while staying true to himself.
His most recent project, #notasfunasitseems, is proof of that vision. Inspired first by friendship and then by change, the album explores his real experiences navigating the underground scene. For him, the “fun” wasn’t always what it seemed; it often meant compromising boundaries or finding temporary comfort in ways that didn’t solve the real problems. Through the music, he wanted to create space for honesty, and paired with Pretti’s vibrant production, the project became an infectious soundtrack for any mood.
And ninexteen isn’t done yet, the deluxe edition of #notasfunasitseems is on the way, promising even more stories, energy, and emotion.
At just 21, the West Philly native has already proven his range, his work ethic, and his ability to connect deeply with listeners. Versatile, authentic, and impossible to box in—ninexteen is only getting started. 🌌🔥
