Meet Vere, AKA, Skuzzy is a rising artist out of Willingboro who’s been creating since 8th grade, but really locked in and started taking music seriously just about a year ago. For him, music has always been more than sound; it’s been the way to get his messages across without conversation. Studying the art as a whole, Vere has shaped a sound that’s uniquely his own.
Ask him to define his style, and he’ll tell you there’s no neat label for it. It’s rap, but also a fusion, a mesh of different lanes and energies within the genre all wrapped into one. Inspired by icons like DMX, Playboi Carti, and 50 Cent, Vere channels their fearlessness and creativity while carving his own lane.
Back in 2018, he dropped his first project Dead 6, a reflection of his old sound and where he was at the time. But now? He’s on a whole different level. Instead of creating what he thought people wanted, he’s making exactly what he likes, and the results are sharper, bolder, and way more creative. His upcoming project, Prevamp is on the way this fall, leading into his highly anticipated album Revamp, set to drop in November.
The journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but even through rocky moments, Vere stayed true to the grind. Along the way, he and his crew built a collective of artists and creatives, pushing forward with the belief that staying real always wins. “We ain’t too known right now,” he says, “but trust, y’all gonna know the name Skuzzy real soon.”
