AMERICAN GIRLFRIEND: Creepy doll𐙚⋆
Jersey Shore’s own American Girlfriend is carving out her own dreamy, genre-bending lane in pop music. American Girlfriend began writing poetry in the winter of 2024, which quickly evolved into lyrics, and by January she was making music on BandLab, sharing her first demos online. It wasn’t long before she connected with producers Love James, Wonderlust, and Blake Foster, who helped her craft her sound into fully realized tracks, with Love James also becoming the lead guitarist for her live band.
Her music is a playful fusion of pop, rock, trap, and indie, with a current project, Cute World, heavily inspired by drill, EDM, bubblegum pop, and early 2010s indie. American Girlfriend draws inspiration from artists like Odetari, Lana Del Rey, Melanie Martinez, Pink Pantheress, and Laufey, as well as local punk bands like Not Yer Baby. She’s also developed a visual style inspired by old Tumblr aesthetics and Melanie Martinez, blending clean, minimalist looks with DIY charm that reflects her independent artistry.
Part 2 of Cute World is on the way, completing a thematic universe that began with her first single, Super8. The project will be released in two mini EPs, with Cute World OG arriving later as a deluxe album featuring bonus tracks and collaborations with artists she admires, like Yelli Sneaks and Skyeboii.
American Girlfriend is bringing her music to the stage, too, she’s performing a DJ/live band hybrid show on Halloween (10/31) at Asbury Lanes with Weekend Supervision, promising an immersive experience for fans of her EP.
With her playful, experimental approach to sound and visuals, American Girlfriend is a rising artist whose universe is just beginning to expand. 🌸✨
